Where We Learned to Ferment
Guatemala City is home to our cafe, roastery, training lab, and export operations. This is where Torch's processing expertise began.
Our First Teacher
Before Torch existed in China, we were learning in Guatemala.
In 2009, our partners were already living on Guatemalan farms, studying fermentation, and processing alongside local producers. Our friends and now longtime collaborators taught us how to transform cherries into exceptional coffee. When we built our facility in Yunnan, we built it on Guatemalan knowledge.
In April 2022, we came back to open our own space: a specialty cafe, roastery, and training lab in Guatemala City. The mission was simple—bring the best of Guatemala's coffee to Guatemalans first, before selling to other countries. People told us it wouldn't work, that locals wouldn't pay for premium coffee—but we tried it anyway.
Today, we sell Geishas and experimental lots in our Guatemala cafe. Soon after, other fellow specialty shops joined us, and started to offer their best coffees locally. Together, we are making this the new norm.
